About me

Kia ora (hello), I’m Age aka Adrianne. I’m a mum of six living in Aotearoa (New Zealand).

How did I get around to selling unique music t-shirts?

Well, I’m a huge lover of music.  It’s been instrumental in my life from a young age (did you get that pun?😂).

My older brother was a huge fan of Jimi Hendrix, Santana etc and growing up in our music-filled house made it inevitable that I would want to play guitar.  So my brother started teaching me guitar when I was 8 and then when I was 12 he forced me to learn Jimi Hendrix bass lines (so it would make him sound good playing his guitar lol). I’m that person that wants to play every instrument I can get my hands on (I probably don’t play them all too well but I’m a trier) and did you know that playing guitar transfers really well to piano? That was a random fact you probably didn’t need to know lol.

I play guitar so I can sing along and I’ve used it as a way to cope throughout my life during key events, like study stress, wooing my husband, dealing with kids who don’t listen, relationship breakups, childhood trauma etc. This is how I navigated shit (can I say that word?)

Last year in 2023 I found myself in need of a full thyroidectomy and after several words with specialists and surgeons, emphasising the importance of not damaging my vocal cords, it still happened (Murphy’s Law I guess). I was mortified, frustrated and pretty much devastated at losing a huge part of my life. It’s been a year, I can’t sing an Octave comfortably (not that I was a super talented singer) and I still keep losing my speaking voice. I do have hope that I’ll get it back but right now I’ve lost a major life coping mechanism and Iykyk 😭.

I have another medical injury (lol dramatic), that stops me from working a 9-5 so here I am stuck at home, my self worth in the toilet and just the tiniest bit of pressure from my husband to help contribute more when all of a sudden I came across a YouTube video that just inspired me. I found a way to nurture my creativity, reconnect with my music roots and make people smile.

So this is me and this is my why.  Music has been my thing for 40+ years (yes I am old) and this isn’t the same as being able to sing but to me it’s still healing.

If you stopped by just to have a look through my products then that’s cool and if you want to support me supporting my family by buying a t-shirt, hoodie or mug then YES I’m for that. Either way, thank you and POV:

Singing is the best therapy that ever was, is and will be

Much love xoxox
